Plans & Billing
Custom Print Price Engine pricing — Free with 3 custom orders/month, Starter $5, Growth $15 — usage-based billing with hard monthly caps, explained.
Pricing follows usage: a small (or zero) monthly base covering a quota of paid custom orders, then $0.10 per order beyond it — always with a hard monthly cap, so the bill can never surprise you. Everything bills through Shopify.
Plans#
| Free | Starter | Growth | |

| Included custom orders / month | 3 | 50 | 200 |

Every plan gets the full engine — all nine cost units, unlimited ingredients and recipes, discount rule sets, custom options, artwork uploads, the cart transform, and reorders. The tiers only change how many orders are included before the $0.10 metre starts.
What counts as a "custom order"?#
An order counts when it's paid and contains at least one line item priced by the engine. Quotes, abandoned carts, and browsing never count — ten customers can play with the calculator all day for free. Counting is idempotent, so webhook retries and order edits never double-bill.
Usage resets monthly; the dashboard always shows "X of Y orders used" for the current cycle.
The caps, plainly#
The cap is a ceiling on your total app charge for the cycle:
- Free: $0 base — if you sail past 3 orders, overage accrues at $0.10/order up to $20, then further orders are free that month. A viral month costs at most $20.
- Starter/Growth: base + overage together never exceed $50.
The break-even maths is simple at $0.10/order: past ~20 custom orders a month, Starter's 50 included orders beat Free; past ~150, Growth wins. Upgrade when the dashboard shows you consistently in overage.
Changing plans#
Switch plans any time from Billing in the app — changes go through Shopify's approval screen. Cancelling or uninstalling drops you back to Free automatically; your ingredients, recipes, and discount sets are kept.
