Getting Started with MOQ Manager

MOQ Manager lets you enforce minimum order quantities on your products at checkout. This guide walks you through installing the app, activating it in Shopify, and creating your first rule.

Step 1: Install the App#

Install MOQ Manager from the Shopify App Store. Once installed, you'll be taken to the App Setup page, which guides you through the three steps needed to go live.

Step 2: Complete App Setup#

The App Setup page tracks three requirements before validation is active on your store.

1. Function Registered#

This step completes automatically when you install the app. A green checkmark confirms the validation function is installed on your shop — no action needed.

2. Create a Validation Rule (in Shopify)#

This is a one-time step in your Shopify admin that connects MOQ Manager to your checkout.

1. On the App Setup page, click Create Rule.
2. You'll be taken to Shopify Checkout Settings → Checkout rules.
3. You'll see moq-validation — Minimum Order Quantity Manager listed with an Inactive status.

1. Click the row to open the rule settings.
2. Click Turn on in the top right corner.
3. The status will change to Active — click Save.

3. Enabled in Checkout#

Once you've turned the rule on in Shopify, this step will show as complete. If you ever need to return to Checkout Settings, click Go to Checkout Settings from the App Setup page.

Step 3: Create Your First MOQ Rule#

With the app activated, head to the MOQ Rules page to define your first minimum quantity.

1. Click Add Rule.
2. In the dialog that appears, fill in:
   • Rule Title — a name to identify the rule (e.g. "Stickers")
   • Minimum Quantity — the minimum number of units a customer must order (e.g. 10)
   • Restricted Items — the products or collections this rule applies to
3. Click + Products to search for and add specific products, or + Collections to apply the rule to an entire collection.

1. Click Save Rule.

The rule will now appear on your MOQ Rules page, showing the minimum quantity and the products it applies to.

What Happens at Checkout#

Once everything is set up, if a customer tries to check out with fewer than the minimum quantity for a restricted product, they'll see a validation error and won't be able to complete their order until they meet the minimum.
